Worried about her dad

This used to be billed as the dark, fucked-up side of my message. It’s not that anymore. It’s just me now. There is no difference anymore.

80% of the time I’m able to emotionally distance myself (for my own psychological wellbeing) from the brutal suffering caused by homelessness. But sometimes it really hits me. Like this message I got last night.

I’ve been friends with her dad for years. He’s lived on the street all the time I’ve known him.

The biggest lesson my own dad taught me (indirectly) was that people just do the best they can. And we have to learn to accept that so that we can let go of the anger and hurt.
