I have just set up a political committee to begin my process of running for Mayor of Akron in 2023.
I have a lot of ideas about how I would make things better. But the NUMBER ONE thing I want to do to make things better is to get you to care about local politics.
National politics is sexy. But local politics is your bread and butter. Local politics changes your life WAY more than national politics does.
I feel like there is a deep apathy in Akron. "That's just the way it is."
So, getting people to care about local politics is not going to be easy, AT ALL.

These are the Primary voting numbers for the last for Mayoral elections in Akron.
This is the first thing I need you to understand: PRIMARIES ARE ALL THAT MATTER IN AKRON!!!
Republicans and independents don't win in Akron. ONLY DEMOCRATS win in Akron. If you win the primary you win the general election. So, if you didn't vote in the primary you already gave up your vote.
Now... look at this number:
That's how many voters there are in Akron.
122,238 registered voters. And usually only about 12,000 of them or so decide who our next mayor is going to be.
We MUST give a shit about local politics. Otherwise, the corporations are just going to use us as their personal bank to make themselves rich. They don't care what happens to us. They just want to make themselves rich.
