I read with great interest the New York Times article on zero waste communities. I am a firm believer that in order for Akron to grow and become a place young people want to live we must move forward bravely and boldly. We must become a beacon of light and inspiration for what 21st century American cities can look like and become. We must lead. I read on Facebook this inspirational story:
GAINS - Greater Akron Innovation Network for Sustainability, Let's Grow Akron and Keep Akron Beautiful did a great job of keeping Porch Rokr nearly waste free. The total unrecycleable or compostable bags of trash: 8.
That's so impressive. Thank you Greater Akron Innovation Network for Sustainability, Let's Grow Akron and Keep Akron Beautiful for working so hard to help lead us all for what we can all become. We all need to work towards minimizing waste. It will save us all money, it will help our environment and it will make us an extreme awesome place to live. Together, we can make Akron a Zero Waste city.
