Sage Lewis – Chosen to Chair Project RISE Auxiliary Committee

I’m not the kind of person other people typically entrust to important jobs.

“Loose canon” is a common phrase I’ve heard to describe me.

But for some reason, Debra Manteghi, the Program Manager of Project RISE, the only group in Akron solely dedicated to homeless children, has appointed me to the position of Chair for their Auxiliary Committee.

The Project RISE Auxiliary Committee is focused on helping raise awareness of legislation that effects Project RISE and to also help support their various initiatives.

So:

  • We want to let you know about laws that directly impact homeless kids in Akron.
  • We’ll let you know about ways we can all support Project RISE with donations and contributions.

There are approximately 2,000 homeless kids that we know about in Akron THIS YEAR!

They live in shelters, motels, on couches, on floors, doubled up in other low income homes. All while trying to find routines, do homework and stay in school. Project RISE is dedicated to helping these kids.

I’m beyond honored to be part of this cause.

I’ve heard from many of you. We are all shocked that there are ANY homeless children in Akron. But there are. And together we can help make their lives better.

So, already I could use your help. I really need you to join us. We need to show the homeless children of Akron that we care.

I’m not asking for money. I’m not asking for donations. I’m not asking for time. All I’m asking is for you to join our community as we fight homelessness of children in Akron.
