Master List: Authoritarian and Anti-Constitutional Actions by Donald Trump (2025)
The last update to this was on May 24, 2025. Let me know if I forget to add to it. This post is a rolling chronicle of executive orders, proclamations, federal memoranda, and allied state-level initiatives that legal scholars, journalists, and watchdog groups have flagged as authoritarian, unconstitutional, or corrosive to democratic norms since President…

The Urban Garden Initiative
Akron already has some really cool urban gardens. We need to look at all the places we can put more urban gardens. Green space is critical to slowing water runoff during storms. We can let the community vote on the most beautiful gardens.

The NEO Mayors Consortium
All local mayors should be invited to meet online quarterly and in person yearly. Different cities can host the consortiums to foster collaboration and innovative leadership strategies for the 21st century. We all have similar issues. We can learn and grow from each other.

The Pothole Incubator
The pothole issue in Akron is beyond ridiculous. I propose we turn this into an innovation opportunity. Let the Polymer School tag the potholes and test different materials for filling potholes quickly, effectively and affordably. Let the community submit ideas for pothole abatement. We’ll pick the best of these and test and track them as…

The 770
There are over 770 cities in the United States that have the same combined sewer system issues that Akron has. I will head up an online community for all of these cities to come together to discuss their experiences and issues. We are stronger together than apart.

Day 30 – What are my qualifications? – On The Road To Mayor
In an effort to connect a bit more I’m going to start doing more videos. Here’s a 52 second video on my qualifications to be mayor of Akron.

Day 29 – I Believe In You – On The Road To Mayor
I highly recommend the PBS special on Mount Rushmore: http://www.pbs.org/wgbh/americanexperience/films/rushmore/ This is one of those stories of defying all logic, rationalism and “reality.” These stories are everywhere if you look for them. Very likely someone in your family at some point did something amazing and unbelievable. These kinds of stories are so common that you…

Day 28 – My Job As Mayor – On The Road To Mayor
I got an unexpected visit from former Akron mayor, Garry Moneypenny, today. Garry was one of the first people in the neighborhood to come visit us when we bought our building at 15 Broad Street. He was our council person in the 10th Ward. He visited several times over the years and was very…

Day 27 – The Voice of the People – The Road To Mayor
There is a massive revolt happening in the world right now. And you might not be aware of it. Reddit is on fire. If you aren’t familiar with Reddit I’d tell you to go. But much of it has been shut down. By the people. Over 265 “Subreddits” have been turned private by…

Day 26 – July 4 – Henry Knox – On The Road To Mayor
Simply put: The American Revolution was bad ass. We stood up to the mighty British Empire. And ultimately we won. I highly recommend “1776” by David McCullough My favorite player in the Revolutionary War was Henry Knox. We had captured Fort Ticonderoga and Knox was to deliver all the ammunitions to the Continental Army…

Day 25 – My Religion – On The Road To Mayor
I got this cool question on my Facebook wall when I woke up this morning: “Are you really an atheist?” The short answer is: No. But the background of that answer is complicated. Let’s start at the very beginning. My grandfather was a Methodist minister. He always had this beloved aura around him. He…

An Open Letter To Comunale and Williams
Hey Guys, Thought you might enjoy this . . . Countdown to The Primary Powered by knowndays.com So, I’m not an experienced politician, as has been discussed on Radio and TV. But I am a marketer and, while that can be about persuasion, I like to think it’s mostly about connection nowadays. That’s…

Day 24 – Do you want jobs? Then you want me! – On The To Mayor
Stephanie Warsmith tweeted this: Those are noble pursuits. But then I got to thinking: what does the Clerk of Courts know about creating jobs? I’m sure he oversaw people that had jobs. That’s cool. But that’s not creating jobs. When I read that tweet I thought: “Hey! That’s what I do.” I create…

Day 23 – The Political Dodge & Weave – On The Road To Mayor
When I watched presidential debates I always was amused by how they rarely answered the question they were asked. They answered the question they wished they were asked. Maybe I’ll see someday why a candidate shouldn’t answer questions directly. Maybe someday I’ll see why I shouldn’t say I don’t know the answer to a question. …

An Alternative to Dan Horrigan For Akron Mayor
Dan Horrigan is who the Democratic party wants to be the mayor of Akron. He will be given a lot of money by the Democratic Party. Honestly, I don’t know much about him because there isn’t a lot out there from him. The biggest information I’ve found on his stance is this WAKR interview: [soundcloud…

Day 22 – The power of Reddit – On The Road To Mayor
I had an amazing day today talking with people on the Akron Subreddit. If you’ve never been to Reddit I’d highly recommend it. It will take a bit to get in the flow of it. But once you do you’ll likely see the power of it. Reddit is democracy in action. Stories and comments…

Day 21 – Working On The Road – On The Road To Mayor
I love technology. That’s probably why I’m in the technology business. One of the many things I love about it is how it makes you free. With tech you can work (almost) anywhere. Between our family’s love of travel and traveling for business, I am fortunate to get to see a lot of the…

Day 20 – Rest – On The Road To Mayor
Near the end of World War I the German Major-General, Ludendorff, had a mental breakdown. He went to see a psychologist. The psychologist told him he needed to take some time for himself. He needed to have a good meal, spend time with friends. This sounds absurd as you contrast this to the cataclysmic…

Day 19 – Why I Ran As A Democrat First – On The Road To Mayor
Stephanie Warsmith of the Akron Beacon Journal did an amazing piece on my switch from Democratic candidate for mayor to Independent candidate for mayor. This move is highly risky because it gives the board of elections ammunition to say “he declared himself a Democrat by running as a Democrat so he’s a Democrat.” The…

Day 18 – I’m Not Afraid! – The Road To Mayor
Something that is strangely missing is my opponents’ positions on things. The people have some very specific questions on things like: The EPA-mandated sewer project. Homeless Vacant buildings Schools Jobs But I’m not aware of any public declaration from any of the major opponents. I know it’s a political strategy. But it seems unfair…

Day 17 – Hot Dogs! – The Road To Mayor
My goal is to get 1000 signatures by September 7. 1000 signatures that meet all the many requirements of the Board of Elections. On Tuesday I looked at my calendar and realized my summer was quickly booking up. We love to camp. And we try to get as many camp trips as we can…

My Answers for Nichole Marxen
I recently got an amazingly thoughtful comment from Nichole on this post: Day 14 My Mayoral Candidate Petitions Were Denied. HERE’S MY ANSWER The Road To Mayor – Sage Lewis for Mayor of Akron She spent a lot of time asking some really thoughtful questions. Because they were such good questions I thought it deserved it’s…

Day 16 – Campaign Finance (Ugh) – The Road To Mayor
I’m a little gun-shy after my denied signature submissions to run as a Democratic candidate for mayor. I feel like the political road is filled with hidden land mines that an uninitiated candidate is very likely to set off. So far I’ve passively raised about a small amount of money through a Paypal account…

Day 15 – You Can’t Do That – The Road To Mayor
The path I’m on for mayor is unlikely, filled with unforeseable risks and unadvised by pretty much everyone in power and authority. The last one is why I’m pushing forward with everything I’ve got. I’ve always had a problem with just blindly accepting what authority tells me to do. But more importantly: I’m doing…

Day 14 My Mayoral Candidate Petitions Were Denied. HERE’S MY ANSWER The Road To Mayor
I’M RUNNING AS AN INDEPENDENT! Today the Summit Count Board of Elections officially announced what petitions they approved and what petitions they didn’t approve. I had 65 out of the 50 needed signatures needed to run for Mayor. They accepted 41 of my signatures. Natural Hunka Kaboom, the other outsider, submitted 53 signatures. They accepted…

Day 13 – It’s Not Republican vs Democrat – The Road To Mayor
Deciding to run for mayor has instantly given me the opportunity to talk with all sorts of people. What I’ve quickly found is that we all, no matter the party, have more in common than not. We don’t want others to suffer We want less crime We want to be safe We want our…

Day 12 The One Thing We All Want The Road To Mayor
I had the opportunity to check out Celebration Church on Dan St. here in Akron today. A friend of mine’s kid was having his high school graduation party there. The graduate’s grandfather is a minister. I got a chance to talk with him for some time. We got on the topic of what people…

My Initial Take on Natural Hunka Kaboom
My handlers have all been trying to persuade me to go easy on my desire to support Natural’s campaign. One of the first things I told them was that we should help him with his campaign. Strategically, it’s a risk. So I’m sure they are going to cringe as they see this post come over.…
